The Sapphire – Hand‑Carved Natural Bath Stone Fireplace Surround

The Sapphire is one of our most popular designs — a beautifully hand‑carved surround crafted from solid English Bath stone in a traditional style that suits both modern and period homes. Its clean chamfers and balanced proportions make it ideal for woodburners, multi‑fuel stoves, or a roaring open fire.

Aperture (Opening Size)

  • 800mm high (from the top of the hearths)

  • 700mm wide

The widest point of the design is the mantlepiece at 1160mm.

Dimensions

  • Mantlepiece (chamfered): 1160mm × 150mm × 65mm

  • Lintel (with underside chamfer): 1060mm × 180mm × 100mm

  • Uprights / legs (inside & outside chamfers): 800mm bedded × 180mm × 100mm

  • Outer hearth:- In Bath stone 3 pieces chamfered 1160mm × 400mm × 50mm OR Brazilian black riven slate in 1 piece 1160mm x 400mm x 30mm

Optional Extras

  • Inner plain back hearth in Bath stone or slate: 700mm × 400mm is an additional £140 when purchased and delivered with the surround.

Natural Stone Characteristics

Every Sapphire surround is unique. Bath stone naturally contains:

  • Fossils

  • Shell fragments

  • Mineral veining

These features formed over 145 million years, giving each fireplace its own natural beauty and character.

Some photos may show the stone appearing darker — this is simply moisture from the wet‑cutting and washing process. The stone dries back to its natural light, neutral colour within 3–4 weeks of installation.

Lead Time

Delivery or collection is typically 4 weeks, though this may increase during busy periods. Please check current lead times before ordering.

Once purchased please advise if Bath 3 piece stone outer hearths are required or the black riven slate for the outer hearths. If you require a back inner floor hearth to match the outer hearths then this is an additional cost and we would require your width and depth of the opening in order to cost the additional stone.
