Hand‑Carved Three‑Piece Bath Stone Hearth

These hearths are carved entirely by hand using traditional mallet‑and‑chisel techniques, with a small chamfer around the outer edges of the three‑piece design. They are suitable for:

  • Open fires

  • Wood burners

  • Multi‑fuel stoves

  • Gas fires

  • Electric fires

Standard Size & Specifications

  • Width: 1200mm (supplied in three equal sections)

  • Depth: 400mm at the deepest point

  • Height: 50mm stone + recommended 10mm mortar bed = 60mm finished height

  • Edge profile: small chamfer (as shown in the photo)

The three‑section layout allows for heat expansion, safe manual lifting, and good working practice.

Mortar & Bedding Requirements

You will receive matching pointing mortar, made from Bath stone dust and natural lime, which blends beautifully once dry.

For bedding the hearth:

  • Use building sand and cement on concrete floors

  • Use flexible floor tile adhesive on wooden floors (to allow movement)

  • The bed must be solid and continuous, not spot‑bedded — no hollow spaces

Natural Stone Characteristics

Each hearth is unique. Our locally sourced Bath stone naturally contains:

  • Shells

  • Fossils

  • Veining

  • Mineral markings

These features formed over 145 million years and are part of the beauty of genuine natural stone. We never use reconstituted or imported hollow stone.

  • Natural stone sealer (500ml) — £30.00 Helps protect and maintain the appearance of your hearth.

Delivery, Collection & Fitting

  • Free personal delivery within 25 miles of Nailsworth

  • Personal collection welcome from our Gloucestershire workshop

    • Monday–Friday, 10am–2pm (pre‑arranged time)

  • Lead time: Approximately 4 weeks

  • We can offer nationwide UK delivery on outer hearths on a roadside signed for kerbside delivery 8am-6pm (no timed deliveries) for an additional £100.00 to hearth costs. A seperate invoice will be issued if haulage is required.
